A pensioner grabbed a wicker cafe chair to tackle a masked robber armed with a sledgehammer

A HERO pensioner grabbed a wicker cafe chair to tackle a masked robber armed with a sledgehammer in a bid to foil a raid on a jewellery shop.
He swung it at the gang, yelling at bystanders to “do something” as the gang fled with jewellery worth thousands of pounds from Leonard Dews store in Lytham, Lancashire.
A woman who filmed the scene on her camera phone in a bid to get the registration number of their getaway car, said: “He was annoyed at what was happening, he was shouting to get other people a bit more motivated. He was the only one doing anything.”
